Attracted by the accessible, democratic nature of printmaking, she works primarily in monotype, straddling the divide between popular and elite forms of storytelling. Originally from Brookline, MA, Burgess received a B.A. in Literature from Yale University and an M.F.A. in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts.
