At his isolated studio, free from outside distractions, he makes art with white pine \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e— \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ethe Maine state tree \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e— \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eand driftwood that washes up on the nearby beach. The rugged landscape often serves as his inspiration.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eDan Miller received an MFA degree in painting from the University of Pennsylvania in 1958 and graduated from PAFA the following year.
