Laura found Underwater Weaving Studio and brought them straight to Rusticator, which is exactly the kind of discovery that makes what we do worth doing. An American basket atelier making one-of-a-kind contemporary heirloom-quality pieces in Maine, their Ribbon Basket is one of the most quietly versatile things we carry. A tall, slender cylinder woven from natural undyed reed rattan, it holds a bouquet of peonies from the farmers market, a bottle of wine for a dinner party, a baguette on the way home, or a Turkish towel rolled up for the beach. The kind of object that looks beautiful doing any of those things and equally beautiful sitting empty on a kitchen counter.
