Jim Weiss left a career in financial services to follow a lifelong love of chocolate — studying at Ecole Chocolat in Vancouver and Valrhona in France before founding his first venture, Pomfret Chocolates. In 2022 his daughter Hadley Rosen, herself a graduate of Ecole Chocolat, joined him to create Chocolena. Jim and Hadley are dear friends of ours, and what they make in their chocolate cottage in Pomfret, Connecticut is genuinely wonderful — small batch craft chocolate with better depth of flavor, better for the farmers who grow the cacao, and made with far less sugar and additives than anything you'd find at a supermarket. Their hand-crafted treats are inspired by their culinary travels around the world, and every piece is made to be shared and present for all of life's special moments. The kind of chocolate you give as a gift and immediately wish you'd kept for yourself.
