Jeff Litchfield is a true artist and what he makes in his shop is the kind of thing that reminds you what it means for an object to be truly handmade. Working on a non-computerized 1950s manual lathe using traditional machinist's hand tools, Jeff transforms solid brass square stock into these beautifully weighted, sculptural candle holders through a sixteen-step process that no machine could replicate. The Beehive was discovered by happy accident — once Jeff had mastered the notoriously difficult task of turning a perfect sphere on a manual lathe, he machined in grooves to follow the curvature of the ball, and realized it looked exactly like a beehive. The result is a piece that feels both entirely modern and deeply rooted in the tradition of fine brassware. Solid C360 brass. We're happy to call him a friend. Available in five custom finishes: Natural, Matte, Polished, Antique, and Verdigris — each one ages differently and becomes entirely its own over time. Each piece is unique and built to last for generations.
